About me

Ohayo gozaimasu!

My name is Nanami Seikki (Na-na-mee  Say-Eek-Kee).

I started digital painting as a side hobby since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns started in 2020. Though I studied art prior to this, I only seriously started creating a portfolio since being in quarantine.

I've read manga, western comics, and The KJV Bible since I could start reading. I also enjoy games, film, technology, and entertainment culture.

In 2005, I was an inaugural talent and dancer at 舞踏 [琉咲] Ryuusaki Dance Company when I was 7, and also studied English from an early age as the expectation was that I would become an international idol, but I retired a few years later due to stage-fright and anxiety that came from not enjoying life in the public eye and other pressures.

In 2011, I survived the (東北地方太平洋沖地震) Tohoku Pacific Ocean Earthquake in (陸前高田市) Rikuzentakata, but the whole neighborhood was washed away with our possessions, and what remained of my family became refugees and then nomads for awhile across Asia before deciding to settle abroad with my uncle. (The director of my old dance company actually sent me the only surviving picture of myself as a child, which was part of a talent search ad package they had previously sent to a classifieds paper in Sendai. See clipping above.)

My first passion is nail art, which started as a curiosity, but before lockdowns I built a partnership with a small hole-in-the-wall hair and nail boutique where I met with many satisfied clients each week to manicure/pedicure, paint their nails, apply bling, and often acted as a counselor and friend to both regular people and small local celebrities. Unfortunately, that establishment shut down in 2021 due to ongoing circumstances of the pandemic combined with bad government policies.

My life experiences, including early rigorous talent training and detail oriented approach to body image and movement, have greatly influenced my creative expression and artistic style, both in good and bad ways. As I continue to develop my painting techniques, I hope to achieve more with less, and be able to deliver final compositions in less time.

Please feel free to peruse my gallery, or if you have an art-related inquiry, you can check the contact page to see if I am accepting requests or commissions at the moment.
